Our Visit With The Ice Cream Man

Newport Folk Festival and Ice Cream
On our recent trip up to Newport, CT, we had a visit with the Ice Cream Man.

While opening up his ice cream truck to fans, musicians, and George Wein(the Folk Festival founder)...we were asked to provide the entertainment.

Have a look at our acoustic performance of "I and Love and You," straight from Fort Adams in Newport.

Another Festival Update...
For all you folks out in Oregon, wanted to remind you that the Britt Festival is fast approaching.

This is our only performance in Oregon until summer 2010...and we want to make sure we get to see you all this year!

If you haven't got your ticket, you can still pick up a pair here

See you all soon,
The Avett Brothers

Awwww I wanted see the Newport Folk at 50 so so badly Sad why do I have to live here in the UK with our awful current music, so many good bands though all my favourites i.e you guys the Fleet Foxes not to mention good ol' Pete Seeger and so much good music, In future you'll have to buy a poor fan (me) a plane ticket haha. Anyway love you guys am a musician myself and hope I can achieve your level of greatness someday, keep workin' hard cuase you slap a smile on my face you beauties! Keep the folk alive it's "real" music.

As a proud Connecticut native, I can only say it's about damn time we took over Rhode Island. There ain't much to it, but we could use some oceanfront, Block Island, and coffee milk. Especially coffee milk.
Thanks for helping out us Nutmeg staters, Avetts! I'm even more convinced you can do anything now.

yes! i loved it all.
i heard joe say, "bob, the british are coming.." as well.. which was incredible.

love love love

That festival looks awesome, right there on the waterway. Loved the acoustic version of I&Love&You... can't wait for the album.

The ice cream link isn't working for me Sad

There was a dream and one day I could see it. So, like a bird in a cage I broke in and demanded that somebody free it. And there was a kid with a head full of doubt, so I'll scream 'til I die or the last of those bad thoughts are finally out.

=)

You guys are all so god damn talented. I love the video! This is got to be my favorite version of I and Love and You. Are you sure you guys don't have hidden amplifiers in this video. I can't wait to see you live again. I am counting down the months and days! Cheers!

I really like videos of the Avetts like this. Anyone else hear somebody (maybe Joe?) say, "Bob, the British are coming!" when they got to the top of the steps and looked out at all the boats?

Good stuff!

While walking through the festival after TAB played their set, Jer and I had our Team Avett shirts on and some guy asked if I liked the Avetts and I pretty much thought to myself, duh!!! see the shirt I'm wearing, but just said, yes. So then he said, look, their up on the roof! Ever since then, I've wondered what they were doing up on the roof of Fort Adams and how I could get my hands on the video they were shooting. Now, here it is!!!

Its a bummer that the Britt will be the last Oregon performance till Summer 2010. It's a good thing I still have 6 more TAB shows on the horizon.

This was so soulful... absolutely love it. I always enjoy the acoustic sets. And I agree with you Garett, Bob's hat is kickin'!

Love this version of I and Love and You!

"It"s not the chase that I love, it's me following you."

This was a great video. Always wanted to attend Newport Folk Festival, and this is definitely convincing me for next year. Is there anyone better than the Avetts?

I have to say the accoustic version of I and Love and You is my favorite!!

...somebody get my shotgun......somebody get my blade......

Love it! (I also love Bobby's hat.)

Wow

I REALLY like that version.

So if ever someone says to you "Life isn't fair, get used to it"
Then you should say "Well It might be if folks like you would let it be."

I'd love to have a copy of the acoustic version of I&L&U

we have lots of little towns in Ct, but I think he's talking about Newport Rhode Island.
