John Mayer is disrespectful to women, homosexuals, and African Americans. Avett Brothers need to realize that they are indirectly affiliating themselves with these viewpoints and should not open for such an ignorant person.

John Mayer? Really? What are you "honest, loyal, and true" to now? The big, bad dollar? I honestly think you guys are sell-outs now, and I'm heartbroken over it. I understand you have to play and share your music for others, but opening for him? Ick...he just oozes slimeball. I made the mistake of seeing him play in Boston a few years back, with a girlfriend who had won tickets and backstage passes. He seemed nice enough at first, but then started hitting on us, and asking if we wanted to meet him later. I was 5 months pregnant with my daughter at the time! I laughed it off, but then, as the night wore on, became increasingly nauseated...and it wasn't by my pregnancy. Since then, every time I hear one of his songs, my stomach turns. He's just wrong, and unfortunately, so are TAB for opening for him. Sorry guys, but you've just lost a fan.

I never even heard of John Mayor until a few weeks ago,before a friend's wake. The friend who had died hated a John Mayor song and his mom was tiring to explain it to me...anyway...Avetts you fellas are one of a kind. Generous, down to earth,humble,creative guys who are making your living doing what you love. I am happy you guys are getting the big gigs. I can remember when you played in little holes in the wall (which to me was as fantastic as anywhere else you've played, but maybe not to you guys.) The only think I miss are the cheek to cheeks...last two shows we missed you guys, which that's ok,you fellas give your all at the shows. What I can't and will no longer pay for is assigned seating. If it's not general admission so I can be front and left center forget it. I have seen you fellas too up close to be in the back seats... I need closer Avett energy then that. Can't wait until Columbus show. Lil wants to throw you a rose again.

Opinion is one thing but having a bad Avettude is poor form. These guys are going to touch so many more people. And, besides it isn't a complete tour. Just a happy jaunt.

I guess you could say that John Mayer fans are about to change favorite bands in their not too far-off future. Good for them!

Dear, Scott, Seth, Bob, and Joe,
This is awesome for so many reasons.

1. Y'all are going to play closer to my home than you ever have before. Finally the Avetts are traveling to me
2. All your dreams are coming true; you're becoming huge, and hopefully making good money for your families.
3. Whether you're playing w/ John Mayer, alone, or w/ whomever, you're ALWAYS amazing. Every show I see equals or is better than the last.
4. Yes, John Mayer acts like a douche, but we don't know him personally and he could actually be a nice guy. And I actually really like his music, always have.
5. This will be a summer show; an Avett show + summer = so completely perfect.

The only thing I DO NOT like about this is the CitCard holders pre-sale thing. That's some bulls***! I know it's probably out of your hands, boys, but I never thought I'd have to own a particular credit card to get pre-sale tix for an Avett show. Aside from that minor, little detail, BRAVO Avett Brothers. Keep it up! I won't be there front and center because I don't have a CitiCard but I will surely be there cheering you on.

You guys need to come back to the New England Area. Your Boston show last October was on Sunday and I couldn't make it, not cool. please come back and on a weekend night maybe.

I mean, seriously. The debate is over. This has nothing to do with growth. I mean, does anyone think anyone in the band has ever owned a Mayer album? Rubin is a moron.

I know - I feel very much the way most of the fans posting below feel. John Mayer? Really? But at the same time I don't feel right for condemning the Avett Brothers for wanting to expand their fan base and reach more people. It's like saying, "Hey Avett Brothers, I LOVE you! But don't be famous/successful. You're mine! " Am I entirely happy about it? No, but it's not my call, it's the Avett's. I still love them and hopefully they can introduce John Mayer fans to some new and wonderful music.

I don't like John Mayer either, but you're embarrassing all TAB fans by carrying on so. They want to be heard, and if they convert a few Mayer fans in the process, then isn't that a good thing??
