merlefest show
It was kind of like a religious experience. I'm ashamed to say it was my first time going to Merlefest even though I only live 30 minutes away. Also, my first time seeing a Avett Brothers show. It was great - really, really great! Tons of people from all generations and backgrounds, so much energy in the crowd and on the stage, great weather and GREAT music! I wish I could re-live it and I'm trying hard to in my head. Got to meet the guys after the show and get autographs and pictures. Seth and Scott were so humble, so polite, so willing to sign autographs and take photos. They even went over to the fence for fans who couldn't get "back stage". Its obvious they really appreciate their fans. I hope to attend another show in the near future, but in terms of the whole atmosphere I don't think anything can compare to Merlefest. I really, really hope you guys play Merlefest again next year. I am a fan for life. Thank you for such a great show.
Amazing show
I am truly impressed at every Avett show I attend. You all preformed wonderfully! Thank you. I thought that the set was very well put together. I enjoyed the mix of songs, and especially the Roger Miller cover. I've seen the video online before, the lyrics are perfect, and it was played/sung beautifully - as expected. Thank you!
Tickets to Merlefest
I deserve the tickets because I have never gotten the chance to experience the awesomeness of an Avett Brothers show. I fell in love with your music about two years ago when my dance teacher choreographed a piece to the ballad of love and hate. Since then I haven't been able to stop listening to your music. I just couldn't believe that every song I listened to I loved. Whether it be from Emotionalism, or the Gleam, or I and Love and You, I've loved it all. Plus I have never gotten the chance to go to Merlefest so this would be a great opportunity for me =]

I think we should win the Merlefest tickets because my husband and I saw you guys perform for the very first time on the Americana stage in 2005. Neither of us had heard your band before and we were both instantly amazed. Fast forward to August 2006 and we had the wonderful pleasure of having y'all play at our wedding in Blowing Rock. So cool! Over the years, The Avett Brothers and their music have been a huge part of our lives, from living out west and introducing our friends in Telluride to such a great NC band...to welcoming our first baby this year with your music playing for him. We are delighted to be Avett's fans and love Merlefest. It would be wonderful to receive tickets as we are new parents with a new home and not a lot of extra cash. We are planning our bringing out sweet son with us to attend his very first Merlefest AND Avett Brothers show!

I know its past 4:15, but I just saw this and wanted to try my luck anyway. I haven't been near a computer today. I want these tickets REALLY, REALLY BAD. I live in Todd NC and I'm a native of Boone and yet sadly I've never been to Merlefest. Truth is right now I really can't afford to buy tickets. I've tried unsuccessfully several times to win tickets from local radio stations solely to see you guys. I saw you on Austin City Limits and that was the first time I heard you or even heard of you. Musically I guess I've been stuck in a rut. Anyway, I was immediately hooked. I couldn't stop telling people about this group I saw on tv, and how they just had to listen to your music. Your music is so authentic - I love it! I really, really want to go and yes I know I am begging. Hope I win.

The tickets should go to someone less fortunate
Pick someone who loves music but doesn't have the money to go. I know it would be hard to discern a lot about a person in just a few lines, but I think someone will have a certain essence that you can pick up that shows how much it would mean to them and the person they take. Good luck!

i should win the last pair of merlefest tickets because i wanted to see you guys so badly...i'm from a little old town called Lincolnton, NC and I teach kids with severe disabilities and I couldn't afford to buy tickets to see y'all. I would love, love, love, love to win them and then I could go back and have something to tell my kids at school all about!

I've seen you folks a few times in concert and I have a sneaking suspicion that she's the reason I heard you in the first place even though she's never been to one of the shows. Anyway, choose her. For so many reasons! I have been going to folk festivals with my dad since I was 8 years old and lack of money hasn't allowed me to go to one for three years which has taken a ton of the sunshine out of my life! Also, I have been addicted to your music since I first saw you at the Philadelphia folk festival many years ago. You became my instant favorites and your music has gotten me through everything, good and bad, and nothing has made me happier than watching you explode into the music scene. If they had an Avett-Brothers-aholic Anonymous I think I'd have to be their poster-child. It's been my main priority to get my new girlfriend as hooked on your music as I am (and it hasn't been hard, I EASILY convinced her to write a final paper for her class about why you are future Rock and Roll hall-of-famers), and a chance to see you at Merlefest and to show her how unbelievable, energetic, and awe-inspiring your live performances are would be the icing on the cake!
There is nothing more
There is nothing more powerful than seeing an artist on stage, being able to see their faces and movements up close, to communicate the emotion, rather than an album. Concerts for me are my way to gain a sense of release and relief. I would love to be able to experience this with the music of the Avett Brothers i their home state. But, if it doesn't happen, there's never any harm in pretend.

Okay, I can't go to Merlefest. I'm saving myself for Bonnaroo and Red Rocks. SO, after reading all these comments, I vote for Seth Keel (disclaimer: I don't know him) to win the tickets because he sounds like an awesome kid and I know Scott and Seth can remember when they were awesome kids and were listening to their favorite bands and would have been really stoked to win tickets. Plus he loves his momma, and that means a lot!

My husband & I would love to win these tickets. We originally planned to purchase them months ago. Then...... I lost my job. Our son is 7 months old, today. & 8 months ago he got to hear your beautiful melodies live from the womb (I know strange) at the Cd release in Charlotte. (Yes, I was the pregnant fool sitting on the floor belting your songs out.) but he, I swear got so active every time we listened to any of your Cd's. His favorite songs are November Blue & Kick Drum Heart, I'm sure of it. Since this is an outdoor event it is the perfect opportunity for his sweet little precious baby ears to embrace his first show, which we will have it no other way but for it to be you guys.

I believe I deserve to win the tickets because you guys have been my favorite band since the first moment I heard your music! You guys are my favorite band for two reasons, one because no matter where or what I'm doing the music you guys write always makes me feel at home. And because your lyrics are insanely clever and even if i've heard the song a million times the lyrics always seem to make me smile and forr that I am grateful! But I really want these tickets because i've never seen you before and I was going to last fall when you played the sold out Bojangles arena, I had tickets and everythinng, but my boss called me and I had to come into work and close. Sweet Sweet Merlefest Tickets
There are a few things I consider myself: a father, an American and an Avett Bros. fan. This is amazing of you guys to do this. I would use this pair of tickets for me and a friend of mine. We both have recently had our second kids , so we rarely spend 1. money for things other than diapers and formula and 2. time on our own. These tickets would be the perfect excuse to have a married father throw down with a buddy and then get back to the joys of everyday life.

My husband and I had an extended vacation in Europe due to the Iceland volcano. While we were there, we made the most of our time. Every person we met was sympathetc, kind, and understanding of our stranded situation. When we made friends with the strangers we met, we would tell them about The Avett Brothers. We made it home to Charlotte safely and appreciate even more the great country we live in.

i always say that if i have one word to describe an avett show it is reviving...and that's what i need right now. On the heels of some recent family drama i really just need a musical escape beyond the headphones of my ipod. I know friends who are making it to the show but i just couldn't cut it this year...i was jealous thinking about them heading out tomorrow , but then i heard the song Ill With Want on my ipod this morning and i decided to be happy for them and smiled and wished them well. I'd still love to have a break from my everyday humdrum right now and enjoy an avett revival in beautiful NC. I just want to see something new and jump up and down with joy and emotion and feel the beautiful exhaustiona nd exhilaration of an avett show...i think i need it

Because just by chance I have that day off and need a musical lift. It has been a while since I've attended any good music, I don't get out on the road that often. After entering recovery I just don't get out to local bars much and hit the road to see moe. whenever I can. You guys have an amazing sound and would love to catch your show, as well as the other acts. Music lifts me up and keeps me going on in my daily routine. I have always wanted to go...
I became an Avett Bros. fan 2 years ago @ the Nelsonville festival in SE Ohio. I have ALWAYS wanted to go to Merlefest, but it's just never worked out for me. And I just got word that some old friends are going to be there! OH! It would be amazing if I could be gifted these tickets and go!
