I'm a fan (and you should be too) because...

My cousins had been taking me to bluegrass concerts for 5 or 6 years, and the more I studied it, the more I liked it and developed a respect for roots music. Then my niece sent me Salvation Song. Hooked. I have this feeling I am gonna love this band for a very long time.

They have way to transfer their own brand of love of life through their music. Even the songs that I think could be contemplative and sad, have a redeeming quality about them, that it just never hurts your spirit to listen and sing along and love what they've created. I am a person of faith and I believe in God's perfect timing...as blatantly awful as our world is somedays, I don't doubt that He gave us these guys' music to sort of say "hey look, it's not all bad - you're gonna love these guys...

Now, about their shows....unbelievably heartwarming and exilerating at the same time. Every other fan I've been near at the shows are like instant friends, because it it is like their hearts love these guys the same and we all recognize that in eachother. Just another thing to be thankful for in regards to the Avetts. So much fun! Absolutely the very best time I've ever had at a live show in my life. I've been to alot of shows and seen some famous folks that some of the younger fans would be envious of...but I promise you, our Avetts are still a superior live show. Buy the classics, but see these guys live as often as you possibly can. They are good medicine for a world of grief.

A love for the banjo? Not so much until I heard these guys...
