Mature, confident and briming with gem after gem, Emotionalism hits the mark on so many levels it is tough to quantify. The band is tight in both their playing and their song presentation....yet the polish on this album does not outshine the raw emotion that the title evokes. The ballads are heart breaking and the singing makes you believe....the upbeat tracks get you up off your ass and dancing despite yourself. A great introduction CD for those who are new to the Avetts and a classic for those already hopelessly in love...
