Why am I a fan? Well, the short answer is that this is the best music I have ever heard. Hands down, no questions asked. No if, and's or but's about it. Greatest. Music. Ever. But, a more in-depth, meaningful answer of why I am a fan is because the lyrics strike home with me so much. With the incredible melodies, the slow, heart-breakers to the intense, upbeat rhythms, The Avett Brothers always have a song for the way I am feeling in any given part of the day.
In February of 2008, I found this band on Amazon. I was just browsing through music and clicked on a 15 second clip of music. Hmmm, not bad. Listened to another one... wow, this is great! And a few days later I had boughten every album possible. You see, at that point in my life, my wife and I were having severe marital problems. It was on the verge of divorce and it ultimately led to that. TAB's music got me through the hardest time in my life. It was free therapy, after the $9.99 plus shipping and handling of course But seriously, it helped me get through each day back then.
Now I am a fan for a different reason. I appreciate every bit of effort, love, hurt, joy, anger, sadness, EVERYTHING that goes into the songs these guys write and perform. I have laughed, been moved to tears, felt sad, had my spirits lifted... it's really something I cannot describe perfectly. But for those who have heard these guys, they know what I mean.
