i think this move is alienating to a lot of your fans. if it was just a matter of not liking john mayer's music, i'd happily still come to a show just to see you guys, but the garbage that spews from his mouth is racially and sexually offensive and i can't support him in any way, even if it means not getting to see you guys play. hope to see you with a better tour partner next time around.

i think for many of us, we are happy to see the avett bros. grow. it's not about an elitist mentality of wanting to keep the lovely little musical jewel that is the avetts to ourselves. i think it is about the fact that we, as fans, find john mayer's multiple remarks offensive against women, offensive against glbt individuals, offensive against racial minorities, and that we are disappointed in this new association with mayer.
