In a world filled with sarcasm and cynicism, I often feel like I don't quite belong. I'm the optimist, the sweetheart, the cheerleader, or the Pollyanna if some aren't playing nice about it. To me, life is too damn hard to be nasty all the time. At the same time, there is so much that is difficult in life, that there are days when it takes every inch of being to make it through, and it should be acknowledged. The Avett Brothers capture this dichotomy perfectly. Their music can make me happy and sad and feel understood and make me feel like I need to be a better person...all in one song!
The first time I heard the Avett Brothers, my friend was playing Live Volume 2 and I heard Gift for Melody Anne. I fell for it immediately and ended up ordering four CDs not long after. I then had the privilege to see the Avetts live after that and I've never felt so much connection and affection to a group of musicians before.
I found the Avetts and I found my home. I am so incredibly lucky.

"We came for salvation
We came for family
We came for all that's good that's how we'll walk away
We came to break the bad
We came to cheer the sad
We came to leave behind the world a better way"
