Reviews for this Date

A couple months earlier I was hoping to see the boys at Jazzfest in New Orleans, but unfortunately my friend only had one other ticket and gave it to another friend :/ I'm not sure there's much worse than having plans to see the boys crushed. BUT anyway, this show was one that I was glad to have has as my first! The set list was wonderful and the band played excellently (of course), and my friends and I were also fortunate enough to meet them after the show by the bus. We spoke with Joe, Scott, and Seth (they said Bob had around gotten in to his pj's haha), honestly I've never had a nicer encounter with musicians and they were so grateful for us coming out. Best moment of the night was definitely hugging Scott Smiling If I wasn't an Avett fanatic before I definitely am now!

At first I was having some reservations about this venue and the assigned seating. I usually do in theater type seating because I like to dance and the seperation factor of friends when tickets are purchased seperately. This does however give me the oppourtunity to meet other followers of The Avett Brothers. Tonight was no exception, I met two very nice young ladies from Mobile who were in the seats next to me on row H. I still have my issues with remembering names, but they were cute and very friendly. I bought a drink for them before reconnection with friends that I was seperated from. Shortly there after the guys walked onto stage looking sharp in their suits, familiarly similar to those we have seen in recent photos. They began with Weight of Lies and a large stage back drop of the ship and birds art. Paranoia, I would be sad, January Wedding and Perfect Space came next. At the final moments of Perfect Space the stage backdrop rose revealing a new backdrop of the the teardrops. The crowd, as would be expected, loved it. Next in the line up came When I Drink, Disraction 74, and I and Love and You. During I and Love and You the backdrop again changed on the verse Brooklyn Brooklyn take me in. The transistion revealed a beautiful scene of the Brooklyn Bridge that would remain through the duration of the show. The remainder of the set list is a follows: And it Spread, Denouncing November Blue, Famous Flower of Manhattan, Pretty Girl from Raleigh, Down with the Shine, Slight Figure of Speech, Ballad of Love and Hate (Seth), November Blue, One Line Wonder, and Head Full of Doubt. I like the fact that they played November Blue and Denouncing November Blue in the same set, a first for me. As usual the crowd rocked the house requesting a encore, for which the boys obliged. As they came back on stage Scott stated "We would love to play another song for you." They finished the show with an amazing version of If its the Beaches. I have to say I enjoyed this venue and the Louisianna fans were wonderful. My reservation were alleviated after the first song. At one point of the show Seth commented that we made it sound as if there were a million people out there. I have to agree that it was a very intimate and yet engergetic crowd. The venue made it an intimate setting and a nice place to see the boys. Thank you to the crowd and the band for an amazing night of music.
