Extra tunes on iTunes?? - Don't sell us out!

We beat this horse to death on Tuesday and Wednesday. Is seemed that everyone made peace with the decission and understands.

No appologies were needed but they were offered by the band.

It is time to move on.

Always nice to see someones first post be so postive about things..... Smiling

Hey everyone,

First of all, we feel terrible that this has caused such a stir. Before too many more speculate on our decision to offer exclusive content on iTunes, we’d like to set the record straight. The band meant NO harm to any of our fans in this decision. We support indie retailers 100% and always will... we just did three in-stores in one day in NC and have two more planned for this week alone. We've tried to make mention of indie stores in every mailing about the CD and even ask that everyone let us know if your local store doesn't have the record, because we want to make sure it's available for those who still buy CDs. That being said, we also have a growing number of fans that prefer to get their music digitally. We want to make everyone happy!

The exclusive tracks being offered on iTunes was just another promotion to give something extra to everyone involved- others included hundreds of hand-signed posters sent to indie stores across the nation, special limited edition CDs for those in the northeast, the aforementioned in-stores for those in the southeast, free stickers with every CD and a banjo giveaway contest for anyone who wanted to enter.

So, we weren't trying to shut anyone out... we intended the exact opposite- we wanted to give everyone a little something extra! As far as the late notice goes, that was simply an oversight by the label. We've had a crazy couple of weeks. It was in no way an attempt to bamboozle fans into purchasing the CD twice.

From the label, from the band- we're sincerely sorry. We didn't mean to offend or exclude anyone. Only great things will come of this in the long run as The Avett Brothers will just be able to touch a wider audience. We appreciate your patience and your unwaivering support. We hope that you will stick with us for the long haul.

Sorry - I missed the earlier thread. Thanks for the links and I didn't know this was such a charged issue.

I bought it at East Coast, Schoolkids, and itunes. I look at it as my way of tithing to something I care about. Great music and a great band!

I bought a physical copy and off of itunes. I understand some people who made the devoted move of preordering feel slighted by not getting the extra songs. I was bummed at first but it's just ten more bucks. If you love them enough to be offened by this promotion then you love them enough to spend ten bucks on the download. "In The Curve" is worth ten bucks alone.
