lildeadhead: that pen she uses to keep her setlists? it's a human-finger bone. dipped in the blood of the ones who yell out during "murder in the city". poetic, no?

Nice, thanks for the post.
The Dylan cover is nice also.

OMG!!!!!! That was one of my favorites songs as a toddler. My Dad played it to me all the time on his guitar and even helped me write my own song based on Tom T. Hall's song I Love. Mine was called "I Love the Country" and it basically rehashed all of Tom's lyrics. Eye-wink

Hey! That sounds awesome. I'll have to get one of those.

I was wondering the same thing, actually. Sounds better to do that.

It is available on iTunes, but I can't find it anywhere else online (i.e. Amazon). I normally hate buying from iTunes, but I may have to make an exception on this one.

I believe iTunes and Starbucks have some sort of exclusivity contract worked out, so I doubt it'll show up at any of the other digital retailers.

Every day brings new and delightful Avett surprises. I'm still wondering what they're going to do on Ace of Cakes.

I'm dreaming for a living - I've got no time for work.

totally worth 99 cents on itunes...

First of all, I am so happy that they chose this song to record. I grew up listening to this. My Dad played country radio every morning while he was getting ready for work and this was always a favorite of mine. Fond memories.

Second, can they sound any more lovely? Such sincere voices and beautiful harmonies on this great Tom T. Hall tune. Thanks once again, brothers.

Third, can someone get potatoeater some TUMS? Eye-wink

"Third, can someone get potatoeater some TUMS?"

Maybe he ate too many falafels with his potatoes?

Maybe I'm responding to a troll, but wtf. Potatoeater, if you get a chance to meet these guys, you'll know they will never sell out. They are the definition of class.

Stirred: "I am so happy that they chose this song to record. I grew up listening to this."

You and the Avett Bros. It said in the Shuffle article they grew up listening to Merle Haggard, Roger Miller, Tom T. Hall... I would have to think it has some nostalgic memories for them.

We had fun recording this one; first cover I've done with them, I think. Perhaps memory fails. : )

So here's a question for sunday rehab, do you have a hard copy of every compilation that the avett brothers have appeared on?(that is available in a hard copy format) How much importance do you place on those comps, i guess what i'm asking is, are they crucial to your collection? Do you view it as incomplete if they are not in your collection? Just curious.

bought the track on iTunes - for those of you who don't like iTunes, be aware the track is .m4a which is NOT the proprietary iTunes format (with all the locks and checks). Not to mention, you can easily convert the track to .mp3 in iTunes if you feel better about that.

The song is great.

Please talk slowly. I don't hear good anymore.

I love that three of my facebook friends have posted lyrics from this song as their status updates. So cute.

Ain't it like most people, I'm no different, we love to talk on things we don't know about.

Am I the only one making up my own imaginary verses for this song?
I won't tell you the ones my husband has been singing. Not as innocent, cute and fuzzy...Stupid gross boys.

anjanette - I have used the melody of this song to make up silly songs for my girls since they were babies!

Gots it last night.

Should we post under You know you an Avett Fanatic When you download every song immediatley upon learning a new song is available
