THe Old Post Pub is a great bar to hang in great food, and good beer selection. The Kettle House Brewery is my favorite watering hole here in Missoula. It is by far the best local spot. Charlie B's, Al and VIcks and Sean Kelly's are also really good spots. You might be able to see some live music at Sean Kelly's. Do yourself a favor and stay away from the Iron Horse Saloon.
