I'd almost forgotten, but the Amnesty International tribute to Bob Dylan drops on January 24. The Avett Brothers guest on an old Cash recording of "One Too Many Mornings."

Also, two albums that I'm personally looking forward to (though they're not particularly related to TAB) are Kathleen Edwards' Voyageur (Jan. 17) and Lucero's Women & Work (Feb. 21).

Justin Robinson, previously with the Carolina Chocolate Drops, has an album called "Bones for Tinder" coming out Jan. 17th

I've heard it, and it's outstanding. Excellent song choices, performances, and production (Buddy Miller). The title track, Leaving Eden, is a cover of a Polecat Creek song. Rhiannon sings it beautifully. She sings everything beautifully, but this one is particularly great. If you're a fan of string band music, you need to buy this cd.

ETA: The Steel Wheels are releasing a new cd on March 6.

It is a strong CD. Leaving Eden is such an amazing song. Here is a video of its composer Laurelyn Dossett performing it with Rhiannon Giddens at a dotmatrix project show back in 2008.

It was a very special night.
Fun Fact: The guy on guitar is Scott Manring. He can be heard on Mignonette playing guitar, along with Jim Avett, on the hidden track version of Signs recorded back in the late 70s.

Good Old War has a new album out as well. I think it came out in January or February?

I'm really liking The Lumineers right now. They have a debut album out in early April. Listen to Ho Hey!

Since the The Avetts are gonna makes us wait real patient here is what I am looking forward to as of right now:

Brendan Benson April 24
Jack White April 24
Silversun Pickups May 8
The Temper Trap June 5

Lucero's new album came out today. It's currently #15 on itunes. Their shows are rowdy if you dare to try it out, but they are really awesome.

I've yet to see a Lucero show even though my friend is the drummer's brother. They're coming here to FL at the end of May. Saving the spot on my calendar.

Last month I picked up the new album from The Chieftains. They're a traditional Irish group that's been around for 50 years. Their anniversary album was produced by T Bone Burnett. The group collaborated with an amazing set of young artists. It's one of my current favorite cds.

The Decemberists
Punch Brothers
The Secret Sisters
The Low Anthem
The Civil Wars
Pistol Annies
Carolina Chocolate Drops
Lisa Hannigan
Carlos Nunez
Paolo Nutini
Imelda May
Bon Iver
