Sharing some heartache

Sharing some heartache

I have hesitated posting this here, but I know we have a lot of genuine friends on this board as well as people of faith whom we have not yet met.

When our oldest daughter Sarah (Babymaker on the board) married we inherited an 18 month old granddaughter through her husband Derek. Morgan is as much a part of our family as the two beautiful children Sarah and Derek had since then. We have also had a good relationship with Morgan's mom, Trisha, and her husband, Ben, who had three more girls before finally scoring their boy six months ago. They only live ten minutes from our house.

On Sunday morning, one week ago, Trisha was driving home from visiting her sister in Georgia. She had all five children with her. In Tennessee she hit a patch of ice and lost control of the car. The car hit an embankment and flipped several times. Everyone suffered injuries, but are recovering wonderfully, except the middle child, five year old Kylee, did not make it. Her funeral is this Tuesday.

We visited their home yesterday. We went to bring a little encouragement and left with our hearts overflowing with the courage and faith they are demonstrating. Still, the road is long, and your prayers will be appreciated.

So sorry to hear this. Your family is in my prayers.

I know I’ve only been on these boards for a few weeks now and have never talked to you, but I just want to say I’m sorry to hear that they’ve lost a loved one. I know I can’t really do anything to help, but I promise that the family and all the people who knew Kylee will be in my prayers. I send love their way.

Oh my gosh, Mark, what a terrible tragedy. I'm so sorry for everyone in your extended family, most of all for Trisha. I cannot even imagine the combination of pain, grief, (unwarranted, but inevitable) guilt, etc that she must be feeling. I am thinking of you all and hope they find peace with time.

Wish me luck, I know you think I'll need it.
For all the hardest roads we have to walk alone.

Bob, I am so sorry for the loss of this little child in your family. Morgan, her mother, and your entire family will be in my prayers.

Mark, I'm really sorry to hear about Kylee and your family's loss. I think it's a beautiful testament to the strength of family that you all have remained a close-knit network even in unorthodox circumstances, so to speak, and I'm hoping that strength pulls you all through this difficult time. Sending good thoughts to you.

You're the back and forth sway of the hammock all day

Thanks to all of you. We just returned from the funeral. It was in a pretty big country church with several hundred in attendance. Heartbreaking yet uplifting at the same time. Ben, Trisha and the children will need our prayers for a long time. Sorrow endures for a night, but joy comes in the morning.
