I have liked bluegrass and gunfighter ballads since I was young. I remember riding shotgun in my dad's truck as he played Merle Haggart, Phoncho and Lefty, Marty Robins, and songs like Wanted Man, and Bowie Knife. As I was a teenager, I was really into the grunge scene and modern rock. My friend (a Causey) made me listen to them one day. I liked them, after listening to all of their albums, I loved them. I later went to see The Avetts in DC, after the first song, I realized they are one of the most talented, creative, energetic, and unique bands ever. I like to think I have a sophisticated "musical palette," and it takes a special band to become one of my all time favorites. The Avetts are one of the special bands, and they are only getting better.
