I'm a fan of the Avetts because they are one of the few bands out there today that are making new, innovative music and doing it in the most honest way they can. They're genuine guys with genuine music and genuine fans.

They're songwriting abilities remind me of Lennon/McCartney, they can use the simplest lyrics about girls and love and make them beautiful masterpieces. They write about love, truth, individuality, guilt, shame, maturity, which are all things that resonate in my life but in every life that I have ever come into contact with. I wish I could show everyone the Avett Brothers and have them appreciate them as much as I do and as much as people on these boards do, but not everyone understands them.

I guess I like them because they bring people together. They've brought me together with wonderful people, at least in my mind, and have been one of the most positive influences I've ever had in my life. They don't make good things bad and they don't make bad things good, they simply sing from their hearts and attract some of the most devoted fans any band has ever had because of it.
