I want to start by saying that I am a big fan and have been to many shows (around 20). I love seeing the Avetts in any venue... however the experience varies greatly from one theater to another. I think that the experience of seeing the Avetts at a venue like Thomas Wolfe is much more intimate and special than an arena like the Civic Center. I like the idea of having as many fans as possible at he NYE show, but the simple fact is that the acoustics in the Civic Center suck and the tickets should be cheaper.

Seriously, when aren't the Avetts Good? The show was great, and I think Scott said it best; "In a city with so much to do on a Saturday night, we're honored that you chose to spend it with us." It was cool to see a SoCal crowd getting into the Carolina spirit. Being from Charlotte, I was happy to see people actually wave and smile back at me when walking back to the car after the show.

Clear The Air
I think a lot of people are missing the point here. Although there is plenty of debating to be done about which format is better (big party show or small intimate show), that's not the issue here. The issue is SWITCHING the venue after the fact. I would have been perfectly fine with a Civic Center show and frankly it makes more sense. The band has a huge following here and their NYE shows are legendary. The problem is that they sold a product to 2,500 people and are not delivering what they advertised.
