Paul Defiglia joined The Avett Brothers just over six years ago.  In doing so, he made it possible for the band to continue to travel and share music in the immediate wake of Bob’s daughter’s brain cancer. No words can express our appreciation for the time, efforts, and exceptional musicianship he has contributed to this band. His compassion and his commitment have been inspiring, and the friendships grown during his time with us are undoubtedly of the lifelong variety. After September 3rd, Paul will be embarking on musical ventures apart from The Avett Brothers, with our most sincere best wishes. It has been an honor to perform together, drink too much coffee together, and make horrible jokes together…to put it plainly, it has been a joy to have such fine camaraderie with such a fine person…
